Two Aquebogue brothers are set to open a casual restaurant at the former Starbucks location in Greenport.

Michael Moreo, 24, and his younger brother, Matthew, are opening The Greenport Eatery in the Front Street space the coffee giant vacated in October.

Mr. Moreo’s mother, Marian — former owner of North Fork Bagels in Jamesport — said the restaurant will have a casual feel and will serve bagels, full breakfast, paninis, wraps and café items, including baked treats and coffee from the Hampton Coffee Company. The eatery will also feature a salad bar and a takeout menu.

After scoping out several locations in the area this past winter, Mr. Moreo said he settled on the 2,600-square-foot store because it’s spacious enough to hold casual gatherings.

The view of Greenport Harbor was also a selling point, he said.

“I love it,” Mr. Moreo said last week as he and his family stocked the restaurant. “[My brother] and his girlfriend, Kara, are doing everything they can so I can manage it when they go away in mid-July to do mission work in Ukraine.”

Mr. Moreo added that his sister, Samantha, who recently graduated from Mattituck High School, is also pitching in.

“My whole family is involved,” he said. “We’ve wanted to do something like this for a long time.”

The family-owned restaurant will have couches and a lounge area inside, as well as outdoor seating. Mr. Moreo said he plans to host live guitar acoustic performances and hold birthday parties and bridal and baby showers.

There will be televisions and free wi-fi.

The Greenport Eatery will be open daily from 5 a.m. to 11 p.m.
