A man was arrested Tuesday in Greenport after his family discovered chemicals used to make fireworks stored in the garage of their East Moriches home, Suffolk County police said.

Ronald Walker, 34, of East Moriches was charged with first-degree reckless endangerment, officials said. Police declined to say where in Greenport Mr. Walker was arrested.

After Mr. Walker’s parents reported the incident, police found several marked containers of household chemicals that could be used to manufacture fireworks in the garage of their East Moriches home, as well as “non-chemical components” of homemade fireworks, officials said. No other details about the firework operation were immediately available.

Mr. Walker is scheduled to be arraigned today at First District Court in Central Islip.
