Cops: Southold traffic stop leads to drug charges

A pair of 23-year-olds were arrested  in front of a bank in Southold early Monday morning for seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of marijuana, according to Southold Town Police.

Police said they stopped driver Kristopher Eide of Mastic Beach for a traffic infraction along Route 25, when a packet of heroin fell out of his pocket as he got out of the car to retrieve his driver’s license, which he had dropped.

Police said his passenger, Christine M. Walton of Center Moriches, was also found to be in possession of marijuana.

The two were arrested and transported to headquarters for processing, police said. Ms. Walton was held for an appearance ticket and Mr. Eide was held for arraignment, police said.
