Sally J. Woodward Tonn

Mrs. Sally J. Woodward Tonn, 83, of Bruno Road, Clifton Park, N.Y., died Thursday evening, July 26, 2012, at her home after a brief illness, in the loving company of her family.

Born in Orient, Long Island, on Sept. 5, 1928, she was the daughter of the late George and Florence Adams Berry. She lived in Southold until the age of 18.

On the staff of the former Howard Johnson’s Restaurant in Latham for many years, Sally had worked as the manager and also the hostess. A faithful employee, Sally also enjoyed friendships with many loyal customers over the years, and in fact married one 31 years ago.

A member of the Clifton Park Elks Lodge and Shenendehowa Senior Citizens, Sally enjoyed baking, flowers and decorating her home and yard. She was a member of both the Round Lake and Shenendehowa Methodist churches.

Survivors include her husband of 31 years, William C. Tonn; eight children, Linda Napton of Minnesota, Douglas (Tammi) Woodward of Indiana, Michael Woodward of California, William (Sofia) Woodward of Massachusetts, Kathy (Tim) Sweeney of Halfmoon, Gregory (Janis) Woodward of Connecticut, Laurie (Tony Mauriello) Woodward of Pennsylvania and Elizabeth Rodriguez of Malta; 19 grandchildren; 6 great-grandchildren; and her siblings George (Sandy) Berry of Southold, Nancy Train of Alabama, Grace (Jack) Delquist of Florida, Robert (Madeline) Berry of Oneonta, N.Y., and Rick (Tammy) Berry of Greenport; and a number of nieces and nephews. Sally was predeceased by sons-in-law William Napton and Hector Rodriguez and brother-in-law Don Train.

Visiting hours took place July 30 at the Shenendehowa Methodist Church, Clifton Park, followed by a funeral service. Interment was at Most Holy Redeemer Cemetery, 2501 Troy-Schenectady Road, Schenectady, N.Y.
