Cops: Teen arrested after police catch him smoking pot outside museum

A teenager from Ridge was arrested for unlawful possession of marijuana Monday evening after he and a friend were observed sitting on the deck of Greenport’s Railroad museum hours after it had closed, Southold Town Police said in a press release Tuesday.

The two teens ran after spotting police, leading to a foot pursuit that ended with the apprehension of the 16-year-old, who was in possession of a glass pipe.

The teen told police he left pot behind at the museum when he ran, and the drugs were later recovered by police. He was given an appearance ticket for unlawful possession of marijuana and is expected to appear in court at a later date, according to the report.

His friend, an 18-year-old from Greenport, was not arrested, police said.
