Cops: Teen fell asleep at wheel, struck tree in Cutchogue

A Nassau County teen was taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital Sunday night after he fell asleep at the wheel and struck a tree in Cutchogue, Southold Town police said.

William King, 17, of Manhasset was traveling eastbound on Route 48 in a 2006 BMW when he fell asleep at the wheel. The vehicle traveled off the roadway and struck a tree, police said.

Cutchogue Fire Department volunteers responded and transported Mr. King to Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport for treatment of unknown injuries., police said.
