He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Lorraine Lizza Rose; their two children, Douglas (Amy) and Brandon (Susannah); and four grandchildren, Caroline, Morgan, Elsie, and Charles — all of whom brought great joy to his life.

Douglas raised his family in Lloyd Harbor, N.Y., and moved to Southold, N.Y., in 1989.

Douglas was a creative, design-driven entrepreneur who used his talents to build several successful businesses in New York City, Long Island and locally on the East End.

Throughout his life he was an active contributor to his community, coaching his children’s soccer teams and Cub Scouts and serving on the boards of various local organizations, including the Long Island Philharmonic and Lloyd Harbor Yacht Club.
