Geoffrey MacMurdo
Geoffrey MacMurdo, a former resident of Cutchogue and Southold, died suddenly in the early morning hours of Aug. 1, 2012. He was 57 years old.
He left behind his loving wife, Joanne; three cats, Taz, Boots and Cessie; and his German shepherd, Sasha, whose nickname is Solar Dog. Sasha would often accompany Geoff on his jobs and never passed up an opportunity to test customers’ swimming pools.
Geoff’s mother was Lorraine MacMurdo, who was also a longtime resident and attended Church of the Redeemer in Mattituck.
Geoff was the proprietor of Sun Solar Products, which he founded in 1976. Geoff lived for Sun Solar. His knowledge of solar energy was insurmountable and the industry will definitely miss him.
Geoff loved to fly. He used to fly professionally and just for fun. He was a longtime member of the AOPA. And he loved to be on the water.
Geoff had a wicked sense of humor. He loved a good joke and had an infectious laugh. He was the first person to help anyone in need. He was extremely generous and was often taken advantage of. But that never stopped him from helping another person in need, even though he spent much of his life in a wheelchair.
A celebration of Geoff’s life was held at Church of the Redeemer in Mattituck; interment was at Cutchogue Cemetery. Geoff will be missed by his family and friends and will live in our hearts forever.
