Lifelong Greenport resident Margaret L. Grilli died Aug. 25 at Stony Brook University Medical Center. She was 80.
She was born April 11, 1932, in Greenport to Helen (Norkelun) and Jack Hansen and was a high school graduate. She married Gabriel J. Grilli Jr. on Dec. 3, 1982.
Ms. Grilli enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, yard sales, gardening and bird-watching. She adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and loved spending time with them.
She is survived by her husband, of Greenport; her daughters, Ruth Yoskovich and Kathleen Dimon, both of Greenport, Beth Aleksander and Nancy Sierra, both of Riverhead, and Lisa Charland of Arcadia, Fla.; her son, Jack Grilli, and her sister, Jacqueline Monsell, both of Greenport; 12 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her sons David Charland in 1954, Mark Charland in 2002 and Robert Charland in 2004; her grandchildren Joshua Charland in 2005 and Jeremy Aleksander in 2003; her son-in-law Ken Dimon Jr. in 2011; her mother in 1987 and father in 1995; and her sisters, Esther King in 2004 and Marie Doyle in 2011.
A service will be held Saturday, Sept. 1, at 11:30 a.m. at Sterling Cemetery in Greenport. Arrangements were handled by Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport.
Memorial donations may be made to Greenport Fire Department Rescue Squad.
