A second public hearing on changes to Southold Town’s wetland code has been set for Tuesday, Sept. 25, at 7:30 p.m.

The changes, which were developed to help streamline the language the Town Trustees use to guide their wetland permit approval process, were first proposed by Councilwoman Jill Doherty when she served as Trustee president last year.

The amendments landed on the back burner for most of last year when they became a campaign issue during Ms. Doherty’s bid for her Town Board seat.

The board has made several changes to the proposal since the last public hearing in June, primarily to make sure the changes comply with the stormwater management section of the code, according to the town attorney.
