Jane Ritter

Jane Ritter, formerly of Greenport, died peacefully at age 88 at St. Mark’s Village in Palm Harbor, Fla.

Jane had a lifelong love affair with the North Fork of Long Island. She spent her childhood in Floral Park, N.Y. During her adult life as a Nassau County Court stenographer, she vacationed summers in Southold or Greenport. Upon retirement she took up permanent residence in Greenport. When independent living became more problematic, she moved into the retirement community in Florida.

Following the scattering of her ashes over Long Island Sound on Tuesday, Sept. 25, which would have been her 89th birthday, there was a memorial luncheon at the Swan Club in Roslyn.

She is survived by her daughter, Mary Rader, and her grandson, John Rader.
