Jean Grace Esslinger

Longtime Southold resident Jean Grace Esslinger died Sept. 1 at the age of 93.

She was born in New York City on July 26, 1919, to Ernst and Grace (Bieral) Fischer and graduated from Julia Richman High School in Manhattan. She married Arthur C. Esslinger in New York City on June 14, 1940.

Ms. Esslinger was a member of the Riverhead Woman’s Club and volunteered at the Southold Sunshine Society and the Southold Historical Society.

Predeceased by her husband in 1993 and her son Craig in 2009, Ms. Esslinger is survived by her daughter, Gayle Lanctot of Cleveland, Ohio; her son Scott, of Jenkintown, Pa.; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Arrangements were handled by Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. Interment took place Sept. 3 at St. Agnes R.C. Cemetery in Greenport.
