Woman totaled her car crashing into auto body shop in Peconic

A 64-year-old Mount Sinai woman was hospitalized in the early hours Saturday after she lost control of her car while driving on Route 25 in Peconic and hit a tree, a light post and the front corner of First Class Auto Body, before her car flipped on its side at about 12:20 a.m.

The driver, Paulette Irizarry, was taken to Eastern Long Island Hospital.

An employee at the auto body shop said Tuesday that the car, whose wheels and front grill were still sitting neatly in a pile in front of their entrance, was a total loss.

The auto body shop will be repaired.
