Annetta “Sis” Goodale Fogarty Nordlinger

Annetta “Sis” Goodale Fogarty Nordlinger of Mattituck died Oct. 15 at Eastern Long Island Hospital in Greenport. She was 91.

Born Aug. 15, 1921, in New Suffolk to Inger C. (Jensen) and Uel R. Goodale, she attended school there and graduated from Southold High School in 1939.

She worked at Sperry Gyroscope, where she met her husband Daniel A. Fogarty Sr., who predeceased her in1972. In 1982, she married Alan Nordlinger, who predeceased her in 1999.

She volunteered as a Pink Lady at ELIH until 1972, at which time she began her 25-plus-year career in the X-ray department there. She was a past president of the Southold American Legion Auxiliary and a former Cutchogue-New Suffolk park commissioner. She served as district clerk of New Suffolk School for over 30 years.

Sis was an avid golfer and a longtime member of the Island’s End Golfettes and the Mattituck Gun Club. She enjoyed gardening, fishing, bowling, playing cards and cooking for her family.

Predeceased by her son Daniel A. Fogarty Jr. in 1993 and her brothers, William R. Goodale and Andrew E. Goodale, Annetta is survived by her daughters, Christine Stulsky, Jana (Michael) Prindle and Marietta Fogarty, all of New Suffolk, and her son James (Kelly) Fogarty of Mattituck; her sister, Gertrude Hartung of New Suffolk; her grandchildren: Emily Annetta, Elizabeth and Jonathan Fogarty, Patrick Stone, Andrew and Diana Stulsky, Michael Prindle Jr. (Keri), Angela (Stephen) Kohl, Daniel (Jessica) Prindle, Alanna Tynan and Aidan Fogarty and Daniel, Mally and Sarah Fogarty. She is also survived by her five great-grandchildren, Oliver Tavares, Grace and Emma Prindle and Lucas and Preston Kohl.

The family will receive friends Wednesday and Thursday, Oct. 17 and 18, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Defriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, Oct. 19, at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck. Interment will be at Cutchogue Cemetery.
