New DSW shoe store opens in Riverhead
There’s one less vacancy in Riverhead Centre.
Designer Shoe Warehouse, also known as DSW, officially opened for business Tuesday in the storefront formerly occupied by Borders Books.
The space had been empty since Sept, 20111 after Borders closed down all its stores after having been in bankruptcy for some time. Borders had been at the Riverhead Centre site since 2003, shortly after the shopping center opened.
DSW has moved into many of the former Borders’ sites nationwide.
The shoe chain, which operates 364 stores in 41 states, describes itself as a “leading branded footwear and accessories retailer that offers a wide selection of brand name and designer dress, casual and athletic footwear and accessories for women, men and kids.”
The other vacant building at Riverhead Centre, the former Boulder Creek Storehouse site, appears slated to become a Joe’s Crab Shack restaurant, as that company has filed a site plan application to make facade changes to the building.
