Albert DeNicola

Albert DeNicola of East Moriches died Dec. 7, 2012, at the age of 92.

He was born in East New York on Jan. 27, 1920, to Pietro and Philomena (Sabatella) DeNicola.

A veteran of World War II, he served in the United States Coast Guard from 1941 to 1945 and was the recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, World War II Victory Medal, Asiatic-Pacifica Area Campaign Medal, American Defense Service Medal and American Area Campaign Medal.

A former longtime resident of Centerport, he enjoyed a long career as a brick mason.

Predeceased in 1988 by his wife, Maria Theresa, Mr. De Nicola is survived by his children, Peter, Giacomo and John; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

Calling hours continue Thursday, Dec. 13, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold. The Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9:45 a.m. Friday, Dec. 14, at St. Patrick’s R.C. Church in Huntington. Interment will follow at the church cemetery.
