Stefan Zgorski

Stefan Zgorski of Locust Valley died at his home on Dec. 6, 2012. He was 90 years old.

He was born in Poland Dec. 24, 1921, to Stefan and Mary Zgorski. He came to the United States in 1950 and met Helen Ficner at a dance at Polish Hall in Riverhead. They later married and together they made their home in Locust Valley.

Steve was a construction worker for Lizza & Sons in Hicksville and was a communicant of St. Hyacinth Roman Catholic Church in Glen Head. In his free time, he enjoyed gardening and yard work.

Predeceased by his wife, Helen, in 2004, he is survived by his sons, Steven, of Deer Park, and Henry, of Locust Valley.

The family received friends Dec. 10 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated on Dec. 11 at Our Lady of Ostrabrama Roman Catholic Church in Cutchogue by Father Marian Bicz. Interment followed at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery.
