Senior bay constable honored for service

Senior bay constable Don Dzenkowski of East Marion was honored last week for 29 years of service to the town.

Before a full house of Mr. Dzenkowski’s friends, family and supporters, Southold Town Supervisor Scott Russell gave Mr. Dzenkowski a proclamation honoring his service and Police Chief Martin Flatley presented him with his retired badge.

“Don, this isn’t enough, after all of what you have done for the people of this town,” said Mr. Russell.

“You’re going to be sorely missed,“ Chief Flatley added.

Mr. Dzenkowski thanked his family for putting up with the fact that he worked many weekends during his tenure with the town.

Also at the same Town Board meeting, the board accepted public works director Jim McMahon’s letter of intent to retire as of Jan. 31, 2013.
