Boys Basketball: Run propels E.H. past Greenport

BONACKERS 71, PORTERS 53

Greenport High School could not sustain a fast start in the first quarter and wound up dropping a 71-53 non-league game to visiting East Hampton on Monday night.

The Porters (1-1) rolled to a 16-9 first quarter lead, but were outscored by East Hampton (4-0) 26-8, in the second period.

Senior Thomas King, who did not score a point in the opening quarter, led the visitors with 27 points and nine rebounds. King sank five 3-pointers, including three in the decisive second quarter. Thomas Nelson added 12 points.

Guard Gavin Dibble led the Porters with 19 points while Austin Hooks and Timmy Stevens added nine points apiece.

Greenport next plays at Bridgehampton at 6 p.m. on Friday.
