Cops: Out-of-state fugitive caught in Cutchogue

A Cutchogue man was charged with five separate crimes after he was found rummaging through parked vehicles on Sunday evening, Southold Town police said.

Adam Flanigan, 27, was picked up by police about 10 p.m. on Eastwood Road in Cutchogue, matching the description of a suspect opening and searching through cars on nearby Pequash Road, police said.

An investigation revealed Mr. Flanigan was in possession of marijuana and he was arrested under the name he gave police, Christopher Oliver of Illinois.

While processing the suspect at headquarters, a fingerprint scan revealed not only was he was Adam Flanigan, not Christopher Oliver, but that he was a fugitive from justice out of Wisconsin, police said.

Mr. Flanigan was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana, attempted escape, false personation and being a fugitive from justice, police said.

He was processed under his true identity and held for arraignment, according to the report.
