The Mattituck High School girls basketball team could not overcome a slow start and dropped a 67-46 decision to Lindenhurst in the Lindenhurst Tournament championship game on Wednesday night.

Junior forward Shannon Dwyer, who was named to the all-tournament team, paced the Tuckers (1-2) with 16 points and senior forward Allie Wilcenski added 13.

Senior forward Val Oyakhilome, who was named the tournament’s most valuable player, led the Bulldogs (2-0) with 30 points while sinking four 3-point shots. Randi Zorn added 12 for the Bulldogs, who won the second annual tournament for the second year in a row.

Lindenhurst grabbed an 11-0 advantage before Dwyer broke the ice for the Tuckers.

Mattituck will host Westhampton Beach in a non-league game on Tuesday.
