Virginia M. Toedter

Virginia (Jean) M. Toedter of Southold and New York City died Dec. 1 after a long battle with brain cancer. She was 85 years old.

Born in Great Neck in 1927 to William and Kathryn McAdoo, she graduated from Great Neck High School and attended Barnard College. She married Howard A. Toedter in 1958.

She was a longtime fashion show coordinator, an award-winning artist, a school health supervisor and, for the past 20-plus years, a real estate broker. Family members said she was an avid bridge player and a lover of the arts and found her greatest peace and joy at her home in Southold.

Predeceased by her husband, Ms. Toedter is survived by her children, Robert ,of Easton, Pa., and William, of Southold; two grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.

A memorial service is planned for Thursday, Dec. 20, at 5:30 p.m. at Park Avenue Christian Church in New York City, where Ms. Toedter was a trustee.
