Marjorie A. Volinski

Marjorie A. Volinski, a longtime resident of East Marion, died Dec. 26 at her home. She was 76.

Born in Greenport on Oct. 30, 1936, she was the daughter of Arthur “Turk” and Lois (King) Klipp. She attended Greenport High School and married Conrad “Corky” Volinski in 1955 at St. Agnes R.C. Church in Greenport. The couple moved to East Marion, where she lived for more than 50 years.

Ms. Volinski worked for more than 30 years as a New York Telephone operator, first in Greenport and later in Riverhead. According to family, she was an avid knitter and crocheter, a voracious reader and enjoyed making sweaters and slippers for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by her husband in 2001, she is survived by five children, Corinne Barbara of Virginia, Doreen Boyle of Peconic, Michael Volinski of East Marion, Marianne Jaworecki of Virginia and Carl Volinski of Oregon; several brothers and sisters; 16 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.

Visiting hours took place Dec. 29 at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport. A funeral Mass was held Dec. 30 at St. Agnes R.C. Church, with Father Tom Murray officiating. Interment followed at East Marion Cemetery.
