Michael Edward Finnican

Michael Edward Finnican of Cutchogue died Dec. 18, 2012. He was 87 years old.

He was born in Brooklyn, N.Y., on Feb. 21, 1925, to Michael and Isabelle Finnican. After serving in the United States Navy during World War II, he went on to a distinguished career as a pharmacist, having worked locally at the former SuperX in Riverhead, Martini’s in Jamesport, Southold Pharmacy, Shelter Island Pharmacy and, finally, King Kullen in Cutchogue.

Predeceased by his wife, Mary E. Finnican, in 1979, he is survived by his children: Marybeth Bilunas of Jamesport, Michael Finnican of Mattituck, Jim Finnican of Mattituck, Paul Finnican of Charlotte, N.C., and Chris Finnican of Fort Mill, S.C., and 10 grandchildren: Caroline, Sharon, Courtney, Mary-Ashley, Shane, Clare, Alex, Maximillian, Katie and Robert.

The family received friends Dec. 21 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated Dec. 22 at Our Lady of Good Counsel R.C. Church in Mattituck, where the United States Navy conducted military honors. Interment was at St. Charles R.C. Cemetery in Farmingdale.
