Cops: Southold woman charged with felony DWI following crash

A Southold woman with a prior DWI arrest was charged with felony drunk driving Wednesday evening after she drove her car across the double yellow line on Main Road in Cutchogue and struck another vehicle, sending its occupants to a local hospital, Southold Town Police said.

Joan Pollina, 57, was driving west in a 2010 Toyota when she lost control and crashed into another vehicle attempting to make a right turn onto Route 25 from Eugenes Road, police said.

The occupants of the other vehicle, Ricky Palumbo, 49 of Southold and his wife Maryann, 48, were transported to a local hospital via Cutchogue Fire Department Rescue, police said.

While investigating the crash police found Ms. Pollina to be intoxicated, they said. Her vehicle was seized and taken to the police impound yard.

She is being held overnight for a Thursday morning arraignment, police said.
