After breaking into a Greenport gas station’s bathroom Jan. 9, a burglar attempted to cut through the wall with what appeared to be a chainsaw to try and enter the store, according to Southold Police.
The master scheme was foiled by a beverage refrigerator located on the other side of the wall, which blocked the entry point, police said. Another single cut was made on an adjacent wall. Damages to the business totaled around $250, including a broken bathroom door, police said.
Detectives are investigating the attempted break-in.
