Ella Frances Foster

Longtime Greenport resident Ella Frances Foster died Feb. 10 at San Simeon by the Sound Center for Nursing and Rehabilitation. She was 90 years old.

Born in Greenport on June 12, 1922, to William and Adele Berry, she had worked as a nurses/home health aide. 

She had served as president of Burton Potter American Legion Post 185 Ladies’ Auxiliary, and family members said she loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Predeceased by her sons, Robert Foster Jr. and Alfred Hansen, Ms. Foster is survived by her companion, Albert Cook; her daughters, Georgia Hale of Riverhead, Danny Costello of Greenport and Pearl Schoedel of South Carolina; 19 grandchildren; and 60 great-grandchildren. She was also predeceased by her sisters, Georgia Lamberta and Doris Rempe. 

Visiting hours will take place Thursday, Feb. 14, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Horton-Mathie Funeral Home in Greenport, where a service will be held Friday, Feb. 15, at 11:30 a.m., Pastor Thomas LaMothe officiating. Interment will follow at Sterling Cemetery in Greenport.
