John Loper

John Loper, 76, of Dushore, Pa., passed away at his home Saturday, March 16, 2013, with his loving family at his side.

John was born Feb. 27, 1937, in Warsaw, N.Y., a son of the late John Howard Loper and Helen Green Loper. He graduated from Mattituck High School and married Thelma Young of Mattituck on Nov. 4, 1955. They recently celebrated their 57th wedding anniversary.

John worked at Brookhaven National Laboratory in Upton, Long Island, retiring in 1987. He and Thelma moved to Dushore in 2005. They were loving and caring parents and were blessed with over 60 foster children over the years.

John was a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in Dushore.

Surviving are his spouse, Thelma; five sons: John (Margaret) Loper of Mattituck, N.Y., Thomas Loper of Southold, N.Y., Christopher (“P.J.”) Loper of Bethlehem, Pa., Christopher John Loper of Dushore and Drew (Ramanda) Loper of Blossburg, Pa.; four daughters: Sandra (David) McCook of Kalispell, Mont., Denise (William) Eimers of Hunlock Creek, Pa,, Deborah (David) Killen of Felton, Del., and Jennifer Loper of Dushore; two sisters: Betty (George) Capon of Greenport, N.Y., and Marilyn (Polly) Cummings of Seven Lakes, N.C.; 18 grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at the convenience of the family.

Arrangements are under the direction of P. Dean Homer Funeral Home, 206 Water St., Dushore, PA 18614.

The family will provide flowers and requests that memorial contributions be sent to St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 397 Drake Road, Dushore, PA 18614.
