Greenport Village debate set for Monday night

The Greenport Village Board candidates will debate at the Greenport United Methodist Church at 621 Main Street at 7 p.m. tonight.

The debate, sponsored by The Suffolk Times, was originally scheduled to take place at the village’s Little Red School House on Front Street but was changed due to concerns over seating capacity.

Three candidates are seeking two Village Board seats in the March 19 elections. Trustee Mary Bess Phillip, the only incumbent running, is looking for a second four-year term. Also on the ballot are former trustee William Swiskey, who ran unsuccessfully two years ago, and Julia Robins, a real estate agent in her first bid for public office.
