Antone B. Chituk Jr.

Antone B. Chituk Jr. of Riverhead died at Peconic Bay Medical Center Friday, April 5, 2013. He was 79 years old.

He was born Feb. 15, 1934, to Antone and Josephine (Bunczak) Chituk and was a lifelong resident of the North Fork.

In 1958, he married Dolores Pollack at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Church in Center Moriches, and they lived in Mattituck for many years.

After a 37-year career with Brookhaven National Lab, he spent his retirement years farming in Cutchogue. He loved farming and was at home in the fields, said family members. He also enjoyed fishing, crabbing and eeling.

Mr. Chituk is survived by his wife, Dolores; two daughters, Lori Leja (Chuck) of Aquebogue and Lyn Chituk of Riverhead; a daughter-in-law, Maureen Chituk of Aquebogue, the widow of their late son, Robert Chituk, who passed away Oct. 26, 2011; a sister, Joan Domaleski, and brother, Gene Chituk, both of Cutchogue; and three grandchildren, Justin Underwood, Robby Chituk Jr. and Jessica Chituk. He was also predeceased by a brother, Jon Chituk.

The family received friends April 8 at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Mattituck. The Liturgy of Christian Burial was celebrated April 9 at Our Lady of Ostrabrama R.C. Church by Father Marian Bicz, and interment was at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery, both in Cutchogue.

Memorial donations in his name may be made to Peconic Bay Medical Center.
