Sports Briefs: Bundrick named to conference honor roll

WOMEN’S TENNIS: Bundrick makes honor roll Erica Bundrick of Mattituck, a first-year player for Saint Michael’s College (Vt.) was named to the Northeast-10 Conference Weekly Honor Roll for the week ending on Sunday. Bundrick went 5-1 last week, including 3-0 at No. 2 singles. At Saint Anselm, Bundrick earned a 6-0, 6-1 win after teaming for an 8-0 win at No. 2 doubles, one spot higher than her normal slot. Versus Le Moyne, she earned an 8-0 win at No. 3 doubles and a 6-1, 6-2 singles victory. Against Bentley, Bundrick won by a 7-5, 6-2 count in singles after losing by a narrow 9-7 margin at No. 3 doubles. She has gone 7-3 during dual singles matches as a rookie, appearing solely in the No. 2 spot, while also posting a 7-3 dual doubles mark, seeing most of her time at No. 3.

COLLEGE BASEBALL: Ascher’s scoreless inning SUNY/Oneonta sophomore Steve Ascher of Mattituck threw a scoreless seventh inning in a 3-1 win at SUNY/New Paltz on April 2.

PAL FOOTBALL: Registration info The Riverhead Police Athletic League is accepting registrations for football players ages 7 through 12 and cheerleaders who are grades 2 through 6 for the 2013 season. Registration may be made in person on Wednesday, April 17, or Tuesday, April 23, from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Senior Citizen Human Resource Center at 60 Shade Tree Lane in Aquebogue. To register by mail, go to www.townofriverheadny.gov, Local Links, Hot Links, go to Juvenile Aid Bureau, drag the side bar down to Registrations, print the necessary forms and mail to the PAL office. Forms are also located at the PAL office at 210 Howell Avenue in Riverhead. The registration deadline is Friday, April 26.

AUTO RACING: Free practice sessions Riverhead Raceway will hold two preseason practice sessions for the NASCAR Whelen All-American Series and Enduro Race Series teams on Saturday, April 20, and Saturday, April 27. The grandstand admission will be free for both practices. Practices will start at noon before the track is turned over to Enduro teams at 4 p.m.
