PHOTO OF THE DAY: A Fox family in Southold
Rick Kedenburg was accompanying his daughter for a riding lesson at the Hidden Lake Farm equestrian center in Southold when owner Jackie Bittner pointed out a family of foxes at the other end of the field. Ms. Bittner said she noticed the fox kits about four weeks ago, but added they may be older than that.
The young foxes and their mother live in a den beneath a railroad tie near a horse jump. Horses are no allowed near the jump until the fox kits are grown and out on their own.
