Cops: Two drivers charged with DWI Sunday

Two men were arrested for driving drunk on the North Fork Sunday, according to Southold Town police.

James Cavanaugh, 55, of Kings Park was stopped around 2:30 a.m. for vehicle and traffic violations while driving westbound on Route 48 in Mattituck, police said. Upon further investigation Mr. Cavanaugh was found be intoxicated, according to police.

He was charged with misdemeanor DWI. He was transported to Southold Police headquarters and held overnight for a morning arraignment, police said.

Eduardo D. Monzon, 33, of  Westhampton Beach was stopped for failing to maintain his lane of travel shortly after 10 p.m. on Route 25 near Franklinville Road in Laurel, police said. He, too, was said to be intoxicated.

Mr. Monzon was held overnight for a Monday morning arraignment, police said.
