Allen R. Ovsianik

Lifelong Cutchogue resident Allen R. Ovsianik died May 6 at the age of 84.

He was born in Peconic, one of Monika and Vincent Ovsianik’s seven children. All his siblings predeceased him.

Allen served four years in the U.S. Navy, then returned to work on the family farm. He was later employed for many years by the Shelter Island Oyster Co. and also worked on the water, clamming and scalloping.

Predeceased by two sons, Steven and Gary, Allen is survived by his wife, Lillian (née Finno); his children Allen W., James, Patricia and Jeffrey; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends Wednesday, May 8, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold, where parish prayer services will be held at 3:45 p.m. Graveside services, with Navy honors, will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, May 9, at Sacred Heart R.C. Cemetery in Cutchogue, Father Marian Bicz officiating.
