A Mattituck man is facing several drug charges after police arrested him during an East End Drug Task Force raid at his apartment Thursday morning, authorities said.

Police said they found PCP, cash and scales inside the multi-family home on Old Sound Avenue, about one block away from Love Lane.

Edward Thompson, 43, was arrested after members of the DA’s East End Drug Task Force searched his apartment ¬†about 7 a.m., according to witnesses and police reports.

The team, which included a Suffolk County EMS unit, Southold K-9 and state police K-9 teams, discovered more than 50 milligrams of PCP, a digital scale used to weigh the drugs and an unspecified amount of cash, according to police and court reports.

Mr. Thompson was also carrying a “green leafy substance” that tested positive for marijuana, according to a criminal complaint filed in Southold Justice Court

Mr. Thompson was charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony, second-degree criminal use of drug paraphernalia, a misdemeanor, and unlawful possession of marijuana, police said.

He pleaded not-guilty Thursday in court.

Police searched the house as part of an investigation into North Fork drug sales, Southold police said.

A man who lives on the first-floor of the Old Sound Avenue house said he and his children were awoken when police began searching the house and the backyard.

“I was getting ready to come to work in the morning when they burst through,” said the man, who gave his name only as Eddie.

The resident said Mr. Thompson was barely at the house and lives upstairs. At some point, Mr. Thompson also lived with his elderly mother in the apartment, he said, adding Mr. Thompson lived there about three years.

The resident said he was shocked by the allegations.

“It was a surprise to me, man,” he said. “I don’t know what he did.”

Mr. Thompson was arraigned in court about 12:30 p.m., officials said. He is being held in Suffolk County jail without bail.
