It’s Mattituck vs. Center Moriches today. In baseball and softball.

Both teams will play 4 p.m. playoff games today and the baseball team will need a win to keep its season alive. The Tuckers, seeded third in the Class B bracket, will play a rematch of the first round, which the Red Devils won 1-0 Friday. Mattituck pitcher Cameron Burt threw a no-hitter in the loss.

The loss dropped the Tuckers into the loser’s bracket and they bounced back with a win Monday against Babylon. The Tuckers need a win to advance to play top-seeded Southampton in the county finals. The winner of today’s loser’s bracket game would need to beat Southampton twice to win the county title.

Meanwhile, the Mattituck softball team begins its postseason today at Center Moriches. The Tuckers are seeded fourth in Class B and will be up against the top-seeded Red Devils. The Tuckers went 1-1 against the Red Devils this year, falling 7-1 and winning 6-1. Center Moriches is 14-3.

The softball team will live to see another day after a loss, which would drop the Tuckers into the loser’s bracket Thursday against the loser of Babylon and Hampton Bays.

The Tuckers closed out the regular season at home with a 7-1 win over Southampton.

Check back tonight for full coverage from both games.
