In little more than a month, the historic General Wayne Inn property in Southold will be auctioned off, according to the mortgage holder, Liquidation Trustee Services.

Company representative Michael Tsandilas told Town Board members Tuesday that several interested parties are lined up to purchased the once-popular inn, which dates back to the late 1700s and has fallen into extreme disrepair following years of neglect.

The foreclosure sale will take place Tuesday, July 16, at 2:30 p.m. on the steps of Town Hall, said Mr. Tsandilas. The Town Board has declared the structure “unsafe and dangerous to the public in its current state.”
