A 4-year-old boy was airlifted to an area hospital with non-life threatening injuries after being struck by an SUV Friday afternoon, Mattituck fire officials said.

The boy was riding a bike near the intersection of Youngs Avenue and Pine Street in Mattituck about 4:20 p.m.when he was hit.

He suffered abdominal injuries and was flown by Suffolk police Medevac helicopter to Stony Brook University Medical Center, but only as a precaution due to his young age, officials said.

The boy was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.
