Woman charged with third DWI in last two years

A Speonk woman with a history of arrests faces a felony driving while intoxicated charge after she was found to be impaired after a Friday morning car accident in Flanders, Southampton Town Police said.

Police charged Dorothy Guthrie, 42, with driving while ability impaired by drugs and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, a felony. Police said Ms. Guthrie, who was listed as from Laurel in earlier reports, had a prior DWI in the last 10 years, accounting for the felony DWI charge.

The accident occurred at 8:47 a.m. on Cypress Avenue. Police did not give further details on the extent of the accident.

In May 2012, the Suffolk Times reported Ms. Guthrie was arrested for driving under the influence of drugs and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle. In November 2011, Ms. Guthrie crashed her vehicle in Mattituck while driving under the influence of drugs, according to an earlier report.

Ms. Guthrie was arraigned in Southampton Town Justice Court and remanded to the Suffolk County Jail on $10,000 bail.
