Cops: Greenport woman arrested for drunk driving

A Greenport woman was arrested for driving while intoxicated early Saturday morning in Greenport, according to Southold Town Police.

Laura Hagan, 44, was stopped for a traffic violation about 3:34 a.m. on Wiggins Street, police said.

Upon further investigation she was found to be intoxicated, police said. Hagan was arrested for misdemeanor DWI and transported to headquarters awaiting arraignment.

Southold Police also issued a release on a Greenport man who was arrested Saturday for criminal trespassing at a Main Street home in the Village.

The arrest was in connection to an incident that happened on June 29 when James Lawrence, 36, was reported to be crouching under a window in a fenced-in area outside the home, police said.

Mr. Lawrence was arrested and charged with misdemeanor criminal trespass. Police did not specify why the arrest came more than a month after the incident.

He was transported to police headquarter pending arraignment.
