Donald C. Von Eiff

Former Southold resident Donald C. Von Eiff of North Fort Myers, Fla., died July 31, 2013. He was 76 years old and a retired commercial artist and owner of Free-time Graphics.

Born in Brooklyn April 22, 1937, to William and Vivian Von Eiff, he was a graduate of West Virginia Wesleyan College, where he received his Bachelor of Arts degree. He served with the U.S. Army National Guard.

On June 6, 1964, he married Joan C. Miller at United Church of Christ in Garden City, and together they made their home in Oakdale for many years.

He was a communicant of First Baptist Church of Greenport and Mattituck Presbyterian Church and a member of Rotary International.

Predeceased by his wife, Joan, he is survived by his children, William Von Eiff of Greenport, James Von Eiff of Sayville and Keith Von Eiff of Southold; a brother, Damon Von Eiff of Rockville, Md.; and 15 grandchildren: James, Cory, Zachary, Timothy, Hallie, Rebecca, Toby, Samantha, Matthew, Gregory, Rachel, Noah, Elizabeth and Isabela Von Eiff and Jack Davidson; and a close friend, Christine Conley.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, Aug. 6, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at DeFriest-Grattan Funeral Home in Southold, with funeral services conducted at 8 p.m. by Pastor Thomas LaMothe. Interment will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 7, at First Presbyterian Church Cemetery in Southold.
