Grace Mae Moore

On Aug. 10, 2013, Grace Mae Moore of Greenport passed away peacefully at the age of 96.

Born May 23, 1917, to Frederick and Emily Jane Hommel of East Marion, Grace lived a life full of hard work and love for her family. She provided for her family by working various jobs, one of which was opening clams, oysters and scallops at Plock’s in Greenport. Later, she operated the Manaton House in Greenport, where she took in boarders. In retirement, she enjoyed gardening, painting, sewing and WWE SmackDown.

Predeceased by her husband, Bill, her son Wayne and stepchildren Bill, Fred, Charlie, Dicky and Margie, Grace is survived by her son Robert and his wife, Diana, of Greenport; daughter-in-law Joan Moore of Remsen, N.Y.; stepchildren Barbara Gordon of Arizona and Gary Moore of Florida; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

Interment will take place in a private ceremony at Sterling Cemetery, Greenport.
