NJROTC graduates receive naval posts

Two former members of the Southold/Mattituck/Greenport NJROTC unit have been appointed officers of the Naval Reserve Officers Training Corps.
During the recent SUNY/Maritime NROTC battalion change of command ceremony at Fort Schuyler on Throggs Neck in The Bronx, Midshipman Timothy Winters of Southold was appointed Bravo Company commander and received a Merchant Marine scholarship. After graduation next May, he’ll serve as a reservist and a U.S. Coast Guard-licensed deck officer in the private sector.
Midshipman John Dunne, also of Southold, was appointed battalion commander. He’s attending SUNY/Maritime College on a full NROTC scholarship and will be commissioned as an active duty naval officer after graduation in May.
He’ll also hold a U.S. Coast Guard deck officer license.
The NROTC unit comprises midshipmen from SUNY/Maritime College, Fordham University, Molloy College and Columbia University.
