Former Greenport resident Glenwood “Ricky” DeJesus died Aug. 23 in New Haven, Conn. He was 92 years old.
He was born in Greenport Oct. 26, 1920, to Benigno and Iolanthe DeJesus. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II, was a bayman through the 1950s and also worked in construction.
Mr. DeJesus is survived by his daughter, Ramona Rivera of California; and six siblings: Carlos, of Greenport, Dolores, of Southampton, Iolanthe Mason, also of Greenport, Anna Walker of Washington ,D.C., Ramon, of Holbrook, and Rosita Siklos of Brooklyn. He was predeceased by siblings Mercedes Alvarez, Florentina Clarke, Benigno Jr., Teresa Artis and Maria Piggery.
Cremation was private, with interment at Calverton National Cemetery. Arrangements were handled by Edward F. Adzima Funeral Home in Derby, Conn.
