Cops: Three DWI arrests in Southold Town Sunday

A Shelter Island man was arrested for driving under the influence of a prescription drug after he rear-ended a vehicle at a traffic light causing a minor three-car collision at the intersection of Front and Third streets in Greenport Sunday morning, Southold Town police said.

The drivers of the other two vehicles were stopped at the light around 11 a.m. when Maury Laspia, 58, rear-ended the one car, which then rear-ended the third vehicle, police said.

Mr. Laspia was arrested, transported to police headquarters, processed and held for arraignment.

The 59-year-old male driver of the vehicle he struck complained of neck pain and was trasnported to Eastern Long Island Hospital for treatment of his injury.

• A Mattituck man was charged with DWI in Laurel early Sunday morning after he was pulled over for failure to maintain his lane of travel, police said.

David Ettinger, 42, was driving on Route 25 near Laurel Lane around 1 a.m. when he was stopped, police said.

Mr. Ettinger was arrested, transported to police headquarters, processed and held for arraignment.

• A Yaphank man was arrested for drunk driving after he was stopped for a traffic violation on Third Street in Greenport early Sunday morning, police said.

Connor Fenimore, 21, was pulled over shortly before 4 a.m, police said.

He was charged with DWI and held overnight for arraignment.
