Helen J. Berezny

Helen J. Berezny of Riverhead died Oct. 22 at Westhampton Care Center. She was 94 years old.

She was born July 17, 1919, in Riverhead to John and Vincenta Jarzombek. She married John Berezny April 30, 1944, at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead and enjoyed working as a farmer for Berezny Farms, according to her family.

She was a past Riverhead Mother of the Year who enjoyed spending time with her family and grandchildren, doing needlework and gardening, family members said.

Predeceased by her husband in 1974, Ms. Berezny is survived by her daughters, Ellen Kramer and Linda, both of Riverhead; her sons, John, of Aquebogue, and Joseph, of Riverhead; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Thursday, Oct. 24, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at McLaughlin Heppner Funeral Home in Riverhead. A funeral service will take place at 9:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 25, at St. Isidore R.C. Church in Riverhead. Interment will follow at St. John the Evangelist R.C. Cemetery, also in Riverhead.
