Malcolm B. Hendry Jr.

Malcolm B. Hendry Jr. of Cutchogue died Sept. 30 at the VA Hospital in Northport. He was 84 years old.

He was born May 28, 1929, in Flushing, Queens, to Malcolm and Elizabeth Hendry. He married Lenore Heins in 1959.

Mr. Hendry served in the U.S. Armed Forces during 1951 and 1952. He worked for Dennison Manufacturing and Eberhard Faber Manufacturing before purchasing the Carvel store in Mattituck, which he ran for 27 years.

Family members said he enjoyed a happy, healthy and active retirement, spending time with his family and working in his home and garden. He also enjoyed spending time with friends at the American Legion, they said, and was working on a program to obtain transportation for disabled veterans.

Mr. Hendry is survived by his wife; his sons, Malcolm and Bruce; his brother, Charles; and his sister, Jane Martin.

The family received visitors Oct. 6 at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue, where a funeral service took place Oct. 7. Interment was at Calverton National Cemetery.
