Eleanor E. Austin

Former Cutchogue resident Eleanor E. Austin of Dickinson, N.Y., died Nov. 17 at Elizabeth Church Manor Nursing Home in Dickinson. She was 91 years old.

She was born in Greenport May 22, 1922, to Lloyd and Amanda (Verity) Blydenburgh and was a homemaker and lifelong member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greenport. According to family members, Ms. Austin was a spunky and funny woman who was “put on earth” to help others. She loved life, flowers and being a mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, they said.

Predeceased by her husband, Elbert, in 1997, Ms. Austin is survived by her children, Elbert, of Mastic, Elaine Carril of Newark Valley, N.Y., Eleanna Sparling of Greenport and Ernest Wayne of Pennsylvania; 12 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family will receive visitors Tuesday, Nov. 19 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at Coster-Heppner Funeral Home in Cutchogue. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, Nov. 20, at 11 a.m. at Holy Trinity Episcopal Church in Greenport. Cremation will be private, followed by burial at Cutchogue Cemetery, Thursday, Nov. 21, at 3 p.m.
