Cops: Village employee receives death threats

Greenport Village Hall

A Greenport Village employee received death threats at work and later had her car window broken, according to a Southold Town Police report.

Around 3:45 p.m. last Thursday a 50-year-old Greenport man entered Village Hall on Third Street and created a disturbance by yelling and cursing at the employee, adding that she was “going to die,” according to a police report.

Co-workers in Village Hall told the man to quiet down, which he did, he then left the building and walked east on South Street, police said.

The employee who received the threats later reported that a window of her car, parked on South Street, was damaged, according to the report.

No arrests have been made, but the employee indicated she would pursue charges if the harassment continued, according to the report.
