It is time to break out the ice skates, throw on some gloves and brush up on your figure skating moves – or get ready for some ice hockey drills. The North Fork’s only outdoor ice rink is slated to open this weekend in Greenport, village administrator David Abatelli said Monday.

This past weekend, the village began the four-day process of creating a three-inch layer of ice needed to coat the rink.

The contemporary rink in Mitchell Park boasts waterfront views and is in walking distance to the village’s shops, restaurants and cafes where guests can warm up with hot chocolate.

Additionally, the rink hosts family events on Friday nights where $7 gets you on the ice and includes skate rentals from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m.

If you want to skate like a pro, book a private beginners lesson for just $15. Private rink rentals, birthday parties, and season passes are available.

The Greenport Village ice rink is open Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. Admission is $5 for adults and $3 for kids under 18 and seniors, skate rental is $5.

On weekends and holidays, the facility is open from 11 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. During those times, admission is $10 for adults and $7 for kids under 18 and seniors, $5 skate rental.

More information is available on the village’s website.
